One of the fun things about owning a small SUV is that certain models allow you to remove (or dramatically adjust) select parts of the vehicle for certain types of trips. When you visit a local dealership to shop for a small SUV, make sure to ask a salesperson to demonstrate not only which parts of the vehicle come off, but how easily they do so. While you won't want to remove all of these pieces for every journey, there will certainly be times that you're excited to make these adjustments for a variety of reasons. Here are three parts that you can take off (or adjust) on your small SUV.
Doors
Many small SUV owners enjoy removing the doors of their vehicles before traveling. If you're driving to the cottage and love the idea of feeling the breeze flowing through the interior of the vehicle, for example, it can be fun to travel without doors. Four-door small SUVs often allow you to remove all four of the doors, and the process is often faster than you might expect. In addition to changing your driving experience, removing the doors will also dramatically change the look of your vehicle by giving it an off-road appearance.
Roof
For people who really want to feel the air as they drive, removing the doors might not be the only step to take. Another option that you have available when you own a small SUV is to remove the roof. If you've ever driven a car with a sunroof, you'll know of the fun, free feeling that you can achieve by opening the sunroof while you're cruising. Such feelings will be even more apparent to you when you take the roof panels off your small SUV prior to traveling. Depending on how long you're in the vehicle, you and your passengers might even get a tan — something that doesn't conventionally occur in a vehicle.
Windshield
While you can't actually remove the windshield of your small SUV entirely, you have the option of folding it down to open up this part of the vehicle. This is obviously something that you wouldn't want to do before traveling on the highway, but it can be ideal for short trips at low speeds. For example, if you're using your small SUV on trails around your home or cottage, you might wish to fold down the windshield so that you can enjoy the feeling of fresh air in your face.
